How to set up IMAP mail in Microsoft Outlook?

 Here are the steps to set up IMAP mail in Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click on the "File" option in the menu bar.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select "Account Settings".
  4. Switch to the "Email" tab and click on the "New" button.
  5. Enter your email address and password, then click on the "Next" button.
  6. Check the option "Manual setup or additional server types" and click on "Next".
  7. Select "POP or IMAP" and click on "Next".
  8. Enter the required information:
    • Server Information:
      • Incoming mail server: Enter the IMAP server address (e.g., imap.mail.com).
      • Outgoing mail server: Enter the SMTP server address (e.g., smtp.mail.com).
    • User Information:
      • Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in outgoing emails.
      • Email Address: Enter your email address.
    • Logon Information:
      • User Name: Enter your email account's username.
      • Password: Enter your email account's password.
  9. Click on the "More Settings" button.
  10. Switch to the "Advanced" tab and configure the necessary connection settings:
    • Incoming Server (IMAP): The port number is typically 993. Use SSL encryption.
    • Outgoing Server (SMTP): The port number is typically 587. Use TLS encryption.
  11. Click on the "OK" button to save your settings.
  12. In the final step, give your account a name and click on the "Finish" button.
